The Average Spanish course consists of teaching you pronunciation, the alphabet,
verbs, prepositions, etc. They are taught section by section as if it were possible
to learn a language a chapter at a time! Then you are ‘tested’ on your ability to
function within this unrealistically small area by partaking in ‘grammar drilling’
and banal fill-in-the-blanks exercises designed for school kids on GCSEs. This form
of brainwashing - sorry, ‘learning’ - was invented in the late 1800’s and was out
of date before you and I were even born!
